Tournament Rules & Regulations
1) PWSA playing rules will apply in all games, except where covered by these rules. Exception: all players bat in the batting line-up and there will be unlimited defensive substitutions. If a player is injured or becomes ill, she will be removed from the game and her spot in the batting order will be skipped without penalty to the team.
2) Each team may register 17 players, 3 coaches, 1 manager.
3) Home team will be decided by a flip of the coin at home plate by the Plate Umpire in pool play only.
4) Teams must be ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to posted game time.
5) U11 – U17 – A game is 7 innings with no inning to start after 1 hour & 20 minutes. If the home team is at bat or is about to bat and is ahead when the time limit runs out, the game becomes official at that point. Games can end in a tie.
a. All Playoff Games will have a time limit of 1 hour & 30 minutes. If the home team is ahead when time is called, the game will be stopped. If the game is tied, international tie breaker will be in effect after 7 complete innings, or when time is up.
b. All Medal games will be 1 hour & 30 minutes. If the home team is ahead when time is called, the game will be stopped. If the game is tied, international tie breaker will be in effect after 7 complete innings, or when time is up.
6) Run ahead rule.
U11, U13, U15 & U17 all games are maximum 5 runs per inning with 6th and 7th innings open. Round Robin, Playoff and Medal games are 15 runs after 3 innings, 10 runs after 4.5 or 5 completed innings.
7) Points: 0 for a loss. 1 for a tie. 2 for a win.
8) Ties in the standings will be broken by the following criteria, in order:
· head to head results
· least runs against
· most runs for
· coin toss
9) The home team will be the games official scorekeeper. HOME TEAMS are responsible for reporting the final score to the Tournament convenors at the end of the game. Please send a screen shot to the convenor.
10) The home plate/base umpire is responsible for administering the game time limit. The official start time will be confirmed by the home plate/base umpire at the time of the first pitch.
11) In case of any dispute, the Umpire’s decision will be final. The game will be decided on the field of play.
12) The Tournament Committee reserves the right to amend the tournament format should unforeseen circumstances prevail.
13) All players bat and unlimited substitution is allowed on defense.
a. Pinch runner is allowed for pitcher at any time. (Last available)
b. Pinch runner is allowed for the catcher with 2 outs. (last out, unless pitcher)
14) Live Streaming of games must be cleared by the umpires and both teams prior to the start of the game.
15)Any team who has borrowed a player from another team must obtain a Letter of Permission from the player’s registered team. If they do not have this Letter of Permission, they will not be covered by insurance. A copy of this Letter of Permission must also be sent to the appropriate division convener and sent also to [email protected]
16) NO PROTESTS ALLOWED. ‘Umpires’ decision is final.
17) Good sportsmanship is mandatory.
Ejections:
18)Should a player or coach receive a game ejection by the umpire or UIC they will automatically be suspended for their next game of the weekend
19)A second objection, will result in coach being banned from the rest of the tournament
20)Should a fan be thrown out of a game, that fan is banned for the balance of the weekend (no exceptions)
